 Gastric Disease:

Common causes of peptic ulcer disease include H. pylori infection and the use of NSAIDs.


Symptoms of peptic ulcer disease may include abdominal pain, heartburn, nausea, and vomiting. In severe cases, bleeding or perforation of the ulcer may occur, leading to complications such as shock or peritonitis.


Treatment for peptic ulcer disease may include medications to reduce stomach acid and kill H. pylori, if present, as well as lifestyle changes such as avoiding alcohol and NSAIDs. Surgery may be necessary in severe cases or if the ulcer is not responding to other treatments.


Gastric Cancer


Gastric cancer, also known as stomach cancer, is a type of cancer that originates in the stomach. Risk factors for gastric cancer include H. pylori infection, a family history of the disease, and a diet high in smoked or pickled foods.

Symptoms of gastric cancer may include abdominal pain, weight loss, nausea, and vomiting. The disease is usually diagnosed through a combination of tests, including endoscopy, biopsy, and imaging studies.


Treatment:

Treatment for gastric cancer may include surgery to remove the cancerous tissue, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. The success of treatment depends on the stage of the cancer at the time of diagnosis and the overall health of the patient.


Prevention and Management of Gastric Disease


There are several steps that can  prevent or manage gastric disease:


Get tested for H. pylori: This bacterium is a common cause of gastritis and peptic ulcer disease. If you have been diagnosed with one of these conditions, your healthcare provider may recommend testing for H. pylori.

Avoid tobacco and alcohol: Both of these substances can increase the risk of gastric disease.

Limit your intake of NSAIDs: These medications can irritate the lining of the stomach, increasing the risk of gastritis and peptic ulcer disease. If you must take NSAIDs, talk to your healthcare provider about ways to minimize the risk.
